Sovico

Sovico is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 8203 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Monza and Brianza in Lombardy. The community is located about 7 kilometers north of Monza and about 20.5 kilometers north- northeast of Milan on the Lambro. To the municipality borders the Parco della Valle del Lambro.

History

As a Latin place name vicus (highest hill ) is indicated for the place Summus. Mentions are shown for 879 and 998. The importance of the place was rather marginal to the onset of modern times.

Traffic

On the railway line Seregno Ponte San Pietro, together with the neighboring community Macherio there is a train station. The former tram from Monza to Carate Brianza was set in 1960.
