Space and Missile Systems Center
The Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC ) is part of the Air Force Space Command of the United States Air Force. SMC is the Development Center of the Air Force for the development and operation of ballistic space - and long-haul systems. The center was created in 1954 and is involved in the military space program of the United States since its inception.
The SMC operates a series of military weather satellites of the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program and works with NASA, NOAA and the NSA together.
