Spacemen 3

Spacemen 3 were an English alternative rock band from Rugby, Warwickshire. It was founded in 1982 by Pete Kember and Jason Pierce. Her style was assigned to the space rock and shoegazing. In 1991 they broke up and Jason Pierce founded with Jon Mattock and Will Carruthers, the band Spiritualized.

Band History

Spacemen 3 was in 1982 by the art students Pete Kember (under the name Sonic Boom) and Jason Pierce in Rugby, Warwickshire, was founded. From its motto "three chords good - two chords better - one chord best ," she developed an independent, uncompromising sound, and were influenced among other things by bands like MC5, The Stooges, 13th Floor Elevators and The Velvet Underground here. During the release of their first album Sound of Confusion in 1986 rather addressed a small group of fans, they made it the following year with The Perfect Prescription, internationally to gain attention.

The band went completely open about their drug, especially heroin addiction. Musically, the band drifted founder but getting wider. It is represented on the album Playing With Fire 1989 only one song the two had written together. In 1991 they released their fourth album, Recurring, in which only songs can be found from one of the two founding members on each side of the LP. When the record was released, Pierce had already founded with Carruthers and Mattock Spiritualized and Spacemen 3 was dissolved shortly thereafter.
