Spain women's national handball team

The Spanish women's national handball team represents Spain in international tournaments in women's handball.

The team of women was long in the shadow of the much more successful men's national team. The first big success celebrated the Spaniards in the 2008 European Championship in Macedonia, where you could surprisingly win the silver medal. In the 2009 World Cup, the team reached the semi-finals for the first time, but in the third place play- the Iberians internal documents Norway. At the World Cup 2011 in Brazil the next big success followed. This time the team won by a 24:18 in the third-place match against Denmark the bronze medal. Also at the 2012 Olympics won the Iberians inside to a 31:29 after extra time against South Korea the bronze medal.
