Spark (fire)

A spark ( from vordeutsch reconstructed * fun- K-ON, MHG vunke " spark fire " ) is a glowing particle produced during combustion processes and moves through a gaseous medium. These microparticles are then called sparks.

Sparks:

  • From open-burning ( fire with flame), where the particles are entrained with the rising hot air
  • The grinding of metal, where chips removed from being thrown through the air
  • During welding as splashes of liquid metal

Sparks can be either only extremely hot or are even still in the combustion process.

Sparks even a fire or a fire trigger. Particularly frequent sources of fire are:

  • Overlooked sparks at grinding and welding work: The metallic particles are extremely hot and cool relatively slowly - they are piling up at secluded place, they trigger smoldering fires that can escalate to full fire.
  • Sparks for large fires. This is favored by thermal factors and wind. When forest fires embers can fly several kilometers until they fall to the ground again ( Fall out ). Such fire contagion was the reason why in times of wood and Reetdeckung whole settlements and cities burned down at once.
