Sparta (Band)

Sparta is an American Alternative-Rock-/Post-Hardcore-Band from El Paso, Texas.

History

Sparta was formed in 2001 in El Paso, Texas, from the previously dilapidated band At the Drive - In. Two of the other former members of At the Drive -In ( Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez) formed The Mars Volta. According to bandleader Ward the press tries to drive a wedge between The Mars Volta and Sparta again and again.

Jim Ward claimed the song. In addition to guitarist Paul Hinojos and drummer born in 1974 in Beirut Tony Hajjar met Matt Miller (Ex - Belknap ) to, who took over the bass. According to EP and single releases was born on 13 August 2002, their debut album Wiretap Scars the light of day, which was accepted rather subcooled by the critics. With the second album, Porcelain Sparta took on an album that satisfied also questioned the critics and let them emerge finally from the shadow of At the Drive - In.

In May 2005, Paul Hinojos left, until then guitarist, the band to join The Mars Volta. There he took the part of the late Jeremy Ward (simultaneously also the cousin of Sparta singer Jim Ward). Accordingly, now three out of five members of At The Drive-In with The Mars Volta.

In January 2006, announced its band that the guitarist Keeley Davis is formerly encountered in Denali and Engine Down to the group. Sparta's third studio album is called Threes and was released on 24 October 2006. In June 2008, the band announced that she will appeal an indefinite break. Singer Jim Ward wanted to concentrate on his solo project Sleepercar.

On August 3, 2011 Ward announced that Sparta " alive " was back. After a three year break took place on November 17, 2011 in El Paso, the first concert after the reunion instead. In addition, Ward announced that the band work in the fall of 2011 on a new album, the successor of Threes. On May 17, 2013, the first new song appeared after 6 years, called Chemical feel.
