Spartan Cars
Spartan Cars was a British manufacturer of kit cars, which was established in 1973-1995 Pinxton (Derbyshire ). Company founder was Jim McIntyre. The manager Steve Beardsall took over the company in 1991.
The most important model was the Roadster, an open 2 2 seater in the style of the MG TF, the first based on the chassis and mechanical components of the Triumph Herald. An aluminum body panels and fenders made of GRP completed the car. When the Triumph Herald was difficult to find and even became collectibles, one constructed in 1980 a completely new, separate chassis, the components of the Ford Cortina Mk III / Mk IV recorded.
The Sherwood was a combi conversion of the Ford Cortina, but with a new chassis. The rear roof panel was removable, so you could turn the car into a pickup truck.
Even more unusual is the Starcraft, a motor caravan with six wheels on the basis of the Ford Cortina Mk III / Mk IV was / Mk V. A new steel chassis took to the mechanical components of the donor vehicle. On a large structure was mounted, which was also equipped with a cab over the first row of seats. 1991 Treka, an SUV based on the Ford Fiesta Mk 2 was introduced. More than 4,000 kits were manufactured and exported to more than 23 countries.
