Spartanburg County is a county located in the state of South Carolina in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Spartanburg.

Geography

The County is located in northwestern South Carolina, is bordered to the north by North Carolina and has an area of ​​2122 square kilometers, of which 21 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Polk County ( North Carolina), Rutherford County ( North Carolina), Cherokee County, Union County, Laurens County and Greenville County.

History

Spartanburg County was formed in 1785. It was named after the Spartan regiment of the American Revolutionary War.
