Spechhorn

The Spechhorn (Italian. Pizzo di Antigine, 3,189 m above sea level) is a mountain in the White Mies group in the Valais Alps and is located southeast of the lake Matt Mark. The summit is located in the Alpine main ridge of the border between Switzerland and Italy, marked here and bends on Spechhorn from south to east. The mountain is hardly glaciated, in the northeast of the summit is only the small Ofentalgletscher.

The summit delegate three ridges: The south ridge connects the Spechhorn with the Joderhorn ( 3035 m), the deepest incision is used in the past by smugglers Mondellipass ( 2832 m), on the two coins were found from late Roman times. The east ridge leads to less than a kilometer away Ofentalhorn ( 3059 m). In the Galmenhorn ( 2846 m) down -withdrawing northwest ridge lie the Spähnhörner ( 3071 m and 3146 m ) and only a few meters lower secondary summits of Spechhorns.

Increases

The ascent of all three ridges is possible and not difficult, there are some places but climbing difficulties of II degree to deal with. The northwest ridge of the Spähnhörner is accessible from the trail from Ofental towards Monte Moro Pass by crossing the northern flank of the Galmenhorns. The south ridge can be reached from the marked path towards Modellipass starting. As Skiroute the western flank, which can be reached from the valley of the Season Bach serves.
