Speckled dasyure

The tree shrews Beutler, also illustrative Guinea - shrews Beutler called ( Neophascogale lorentzi ) is a pouch species from the family of Dasyuridae ( Dasyuridae ). It is native to the Western and Central regions of New Guinea.

As the name suggests, recalls the kind with the long, pointed snout of a tree shrews. Her long, soft fur is reddish or reddish brown in color and interspersed with white hair, the back of the ears and the tail tip are white. The species reaches a body length 17-23 inches, the tail is as long as the body.

Little is known about the life of the tree shrews Beutler. Their habitat are rainforests in New Guinea 1500-3400 meters altitude. They spend most of their time on trees, which they are with long claws and large bales well adapted to the soles of the feet. They should at least be partly diurnal and mainly of insects, may feed on small vertebrates.
