Features

Way of life

System

As subspecies are Forpus conspicillatus caucae ( Chapman, 1915), Forpus conspicillatus conspicillatus ( Lafresnaye, 1848) and Forpus conspicillatus metae Borrero & Camacho, 1961 known.

F. c. caucae is slightly larger than the nominate race, which is especially true for the wings and the tail. The beak is slightly stronger. The blue areas on the rump, the inner wing feathers, the upper and lower wing covers are less purple, but blue.

In F. c. metae is slightly yellowish coloration of the lower. In particular, the green cheek area has a yellow tinge.

Frédéric de Lafresnaye described the eye ring Parrotlet originally under the name Psittacula conspicillata. Only later did he slammed the genus Forpus.
