Spectators (German: , Spectator ') is the fourth studio album by the German synthpop duo Wolfsheim.

Emergence and Artwork

The album consists of eleven newly composed Wolfsheim songs. All songs on the album were written by the two Wolfsheim members Peter Heppner and Markus Reinhardt. Were produced all the tracks by Jose Alvarez- Brill, Peter Heppner and Markus Reinhardt. The album was released under the label Strange Ways Records. The album contains a mix of electronic music, pop and synth. On the cover of the album will see the following as with the Maxi - Singles Artificial worlds and Once in a Lifetime: a picture of the part of the Mondöberfläche and the words of the artist and the title. The production of the CD case was taken over by the company Graphical works Ottensen. Inside the CD is a 16- page booklet is also included. In this booklet, all lyrics are included. The recordings of the entire album took place in the Belgian recording studio The Factory.

Publication and Promotion

The first release of the album took place in Germany on 29 January 1999. In the same year, a publication in the rest of Europe (including France, Austria, Switzerland, etc ... ) instead. After more than five years, a re-release of the album in Russia took place in 2004. Initially the album was only available as a CD, since the beginning of downloadable music, the album is also acquirable in jedlichen music download portals. From October 1998 to March 1999 Wolfsheim Spectators went on the tour in 1998/99 to promote the album and present.

In Germany, the album is to acquire one in the conventional version with eleven titles and on the other hand, there is a " Special Limited Edition" of the album, which included the maxi-single of Artificial worlds and thus comes to 15 titles.

In the song Blind Wolfsheim were supported by their producer Jose Alvarez- Brill as a guitarist. All texts are by Peter Heppner and Markus Reinhardt in cooperation with Mindy Kumbalek, Louis Sasportas and Steffen Voges.

Artificial worlds

The song Artificial Worlds ( Praha- Edit) is no Wolfsheim interpretation but an interpretation of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra The City of Prague Philharmonic. In the song Artificial Worlds ( Club Edit) is a remix of Hubertus Pohlmann.

Singles

Even before the album's release, the two singles Once in a Lifetime And It's Hurting for the First Time were released. After the album release the singles Artificial worlds Sleep Somehow (Extended Mix) and reactive yet been released. With the exception of Sleep Somehow all singles were able to place in the charts.

Reception

Charts and chart positions

Spectators reached in Germany in the first week # 2 on the album charts. The album could hold a total of 25 weeks in the charts. In Switzerland, the album reached position 41 and a week could stay on the charts. In Austria, a chart entry to date was denied.

In Germany this is after 55578 and Dreaming Apes already the third chart success in the album charts for Wolfsheim, in Switzerland it is the first. It is the first album that was able to place in Germany in the Top 10, making it the largest to date success Wolf home.

Awards for music sales
