Speech Debelle

Speech Debelle ( born March 17, 1983 in London, real name Corynne Elliott ) is an English rapper of Jamaican descent.

Career

Corynne Elliott grew up alone with her mother after her father had left her when she was six years old. With nine she was already writing his first poems and then turned to rap. The school she left without a degree and they had a falling out with her ​​mother, and she lived for four years until their reconciliation with no fixed abode.

At 23, she applied to different record labels and was taken from Big Dada under contract. Their debut album, Speech Therapy was published in May 2009 and won the prestigious Mercury Prize, after boarding their album in the UK charts.
