The spear ( 1,950, 5 m above sea level. M. ) is Europe's highest mountain Nagelfluh. It is located in the Swiss canton of St. Gallen, north of Lake Walen in the municipality of Ebnat- Kappel, Nesslau -Krummenau, Amden, cold Brunn and GeopathSchänis. The spear is part of the Appenzell Alps. Its distinctive shape of a spearhead it from far away. In many communities there are spear streets with views of the spear.
He is mountable from the Toggenburg and the Linthebene as a day tour. Various marked mountain trails (Grade T3) lead to the spear, the demanding on the North Rim ( Mountain Climbing with ropes, etc.) is considered as a worthwhile alternative to the normal route on the southern slope.
