The Speikboden is a lying between Weißenbachtal, Mühlwalder Ahrntal valley and mountain range. It represents the easternmost part of a coarse setting to southeast spur of the Western Zillertal Alps dar. The highest point reaches a height of 2517 m slm and is also called Speikboden. Other named peaks of the massif are the Seewassernock ( 2516 m), the Great Nock (2400 m), the Small Nock ( 2227 m) and the Gornerberg ( 2,475 m ).

The valley villages include Lappach Luttago, Muehlwald, Campo Tures, St. Johann and Weissbach.

Sonklarhütte

To the south of the summit at an altitude of 2420 m slm was erected in 1876 by ​​the then section Campo Tures and named after Carl Sonklar Sonklarhütte. The hut was built in just a few weeks and was one of the first huts in South Tyrol. At first they only offered 10 places to stay, so in 1899 a larger hut had to be built. During World War II, the cabin was not maintained and fell into disrepair after the war. A 1926 scheduled maintenance by the new owner, the Bruneck section of the CAI, was not implemented.

Ski resort

On the Speikboden will find an extensive, eponymous ski area with runs up extends to the third sand in the extreme Ahrntal. Originally the had in the early 1970s by local investors and Bavarian support built (Bernhard luck) and expanded many times, ski the double name Michlreis - Speikboden ( after the bottom section of the resort ).

This upper section is just for beginners and families at a suitable area, because one has a clear selection of well prepared slopes. At the base station, there is also a beginner hill on which the skitechnischen basics can be learned and which is also equipped with a chair lift.

In the summer, the ski lifts are open, the Speikboden has an extensive and very well-maintained trails.

Toboggan runs

Two toboggan runs start at the top station of the cable car Speikboden. One leads to Weissenbach, the other of the free ski bus takes the sled driver back to the base station according to Speikboden Luttago from where.
