Spermbirds

Spermbirds is a German hardcore punk band, which was founded in 1983 in Kaiserslautern.

Band History

Formation and dissolution in 1996

According to the increasing commercialization of punk rock early 80s, many bands and music consumers faster, harder and more influenced by political motives hardcore music used to. In 1983, Lee, Mark, Frank, Roger and Matthias from Kaiserslautern, the band Spermbirds. Under the influence of more classic punk bands like Wire, Angelic Upstarts or the Buzzcocks and American bands like Minor Threat, Black Flag or Agent Orange had their share of the formative sound of the band. Over the years, the band released several singles and albums.

1991 Lee Hollis left the band to devote himself to his intense since 1988 existing parallel second project 2 bath. The rest of the band wanted to continue his musical work and found a new home with Ken Singer: This closed in 1994 the Spermbirds and took with them two albums. But after a few tours, the collaboration due to interpersonal problems with Ken House could not continue.

Following an interim resolution (1988 ) is adopted, the Spermbirds, for the last time with two singers, in September 1996 with a two-hour concert in front of 1100 fans in her home city of Kaiserslautern.

1999 to today

In 1999, Lee Hollis together the band members and there was a comeback of the band. This was followed by concerts to sold-out halls. They wanted to record a new album, but since some members now had steady jobs, children and her own bands, the songwriting for a new album lasted for over six years. The album Set An Example was published in 2004. Similarly lasted for the preparations for the new album Columbus Feeling, released in 2010 on Rookie Records.

Others

The band members " Beppo " (drums ) and Frank (guitar) play in a punk band called Kick Joneses, also from Kaiserslautern, Lee Hollis is still the way the front man of Steak Knife. Markus Weilemann and Frank Rahm expanded their musical horizon with the 1996 Super Gouge project and published by Deep Sea Fishing a little- CD.
