Sphenoidal sinus

The sphenoid sinus ( sphenoidal sinus ) is a small sinus in mammals, the pneumatized the interior of the sphenoid ( sphenoid ). In sheep and goats it is not formed at predators they also often lack. In horses, it is merged with the sphenopalatinus palate cave to the sinus. A septum separates the sinuses sphenoid sinus of the right and left sides of each other.

Diseases of the sphenoid sinuses are rare. Most likely the sphenoid sinus plays a role in neurosurgery because it can penetrate through them to the base of the brain, especially to the pituitary gland.
