The children's game of the year is awarded annually since 2001 by the Association game of the year e V.. He replaced the regularly awarded since 1989 Best children's game.
As with the Game of the Year nomination list is published with three games (2004 to 2010 five games ), from the then in the summer the Children's Game of the Year is selected by the Jury in May of each year. This panel consists of three members of the Game of the Year eV and three advisory boards that are usually appointed for three years. The three club members belonged to 2009 at the same time also the jury for the game of the year.
In addition to the grand prize winners and the finalists in 2002 and 2003, a selection list was published. Since 2004, the panel shall issue a recommendation list, which includes about ten to twelve games.
