The annual International Game Day (short game ) at Messe Essen are the world's largest public event for non- electronic games.

History

The first game day was held in the Adult Education School Food in 1983. Only a few years later had to move for reasons of space in the exhibition halls. Since then, it takes place each October at the Essen Exhibition Centre. 1984, the first German team championship was held in the board game within the game days. Since 2003, the winner of the European board game championships are determined here.

Organizer and program

Is hosted the strongest audience with about 150,000 visitors a year event for author games from Friedhelm Merz Verlag. It takes place every year in the second half of October at the exhibition center in Essen and is in contrast to the Nuremberg Toy Fair accessible not only for visitors but also for the public. Covering an area of about 43,000 m² board games of all kinds, kids, corporate and family games - as well as strategy, mail, web and computer games shown. In the game, the Submesse Comic Action is integrated. Visitors can even buy the games and comics presented after they have been previously tested extensively in food at several stalls and partially from publishers.
