Spike Edney

Spike Edney ( born December 11, 1951) is a British musician. Since 1984, he accompanied the rock band Queen at their live performances on the keyboard.

In the seventies, Edney was involved in recordings and tours of soul musicians The Tymes and Ben E. King. He plays keyboards, bass, guitar and trombone. In the following years he worked among others with Edwin Starr, Duran Duran, The Boomtown Rats, Dexys Midnight Runners, Haircut 100 and the Rolling Stones combined.

Since the Works tour Spike Edney played at concerts of Queen Keyboard; in addition, he was heard in some of the pieces on the piano, on rhythm guitar (to Hammerfall ) and as a backing vocalist. As a keyboardist, he participated also in the recording of Queens studio album A Kind of Magic. During the tours of Queen Paul Rodgers Edney again played keyboards and sang backing vocals.

Edney was involved in numerous solo projects of the musicians of Queen. He was a member of both Roger Taylor's band The Cross and Brian May's live line-up in the 1990s. In addition, he was a keyboardist with the London production of the musical We Will Rock You.

Mid-1990s, Edney founded the SAS Band ( Spike 's All Stars ). The recordings and performances of the group were held with changing musicians, among them were the members of Queen Taylor, May and John Deacon, and eg Chris Thompson, Fish, Kiki Dee, Steve Lukather, Paul Rodgers, Ian Anderson and Bob Geldof.
