Spiringen

Spiringen is a municipality in the canton of Uri in Switzerland. The municipal area is an exclave of the Urner Boden.

Geography

Spiringen lies on the southern slopes of Gamperstock ( 2,274 m above sea level. M. ) and Sirte floor ( 2,300 m above sea level. M. ) on the right bank of the Schächen in Schächental. The commune includes the west lies the hamlet village Witerschwanden (774 m above sea level. M. ) and numerous groups of houses, alpine settlements and isolated farmsteads.

The exclave Urner Boden is located east of the Klausen Pass. It covers an area of ​​42.04 km ² and has only 48 inhabitants ( VZ 2000). Through the Urner Boden flows the Fätschbach which opens on the south of Linthal in the Lindth. For Urner Boden include several small settlements. Bigger are Argseeli, Mättenwang and the parts of the settlement Urner Boden.

Only 19 ha or 1.4% of the community are built-up area. More important is the agricultural land with 2501 ha or a share of 37.5%. The majority of the community area is covered by forest and woodland ( 1165 ha or 17.6 %) or non-productive area ( waters and mountains; 3286 ha or 43.5 %).

Spiringen bordered to the west and north Bürglen UR, in the east and south by Unterschà and on the southwest by Schatt village.

The exclave Urner Boden is bordered to the west by UnterschÃ, on the north by Muotathal in the Canton of Schwyz, in the east and south with the municipality of Glarus Glarus Süd and on the southwest by silenes.

Population

The population declined 1850-1860 to 73 people or 8 %. Then she grew up to the year 1870 strongly by 17.9 %. Since then follows ups and downs with Tiefstmarken of 912 residents in 1920 and a high of 1062 people in 1910. A prolonged decline in population was observed only between 1950 and 1990 ( -12.3 %).

Languages

The population speaks a high- Alemannic dialect. Almost the entire population speaks German as a daily vernacular. At the last census in 2000 gave 99.79 % German and 0.21 % Italian as the main language.

Religions - faiths

The population was formerly full member of the Roman Catholic Church. The confessional relations in 2000 still show the original structure. 917 people were Catholic ( 95.22 %). There were 1.77% Evangelical Protestant Christians and 0.31 % non-religious. 15 people (1.56 %) did not respond to their creed.

Origin - Nationality

From the end of 2005 943 inhabitants were 931 ( 98.73 %), Swiss nationals. The few immigrants come from Austria and Latin America. At the 2000 census, 961 people ( 99.79 %) were Swiss citizens; it possessed a person dual citizenship.

Age structure

The municipality has a high proportion of young people. While the proportion of people makes up a third of the local population under twenty years, only about 15 % seniors (60 years and older).

Legislature

The local council is the legislative body. It occurs usually meets twice a year.

Executive

Economy
