Construction and content

The third album production took place in Atlanta. There she produced with Roman, Dallas Austin, Ne- Yo, Wayne Wilkins, Sam Watters, Louis Biancaniello and with the 70 - band Runaways to their songs. Roman and Dallas Austin were responsible for the production of single Whatever It Takes. The U.S. singer Ne -Yo produced the track I'm You. Wayne Wilkins, Sam Watters, Louis Biancaniello and the Runaways created the song The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, which is a cover of Ewan McColl same Hit The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.

After their songs were recorded in Atlanta, Leona Lewis moved to New York. Here only a single was produced which was entitled Forgiveness and was produced by Johnta Austin and the production team Stargate.

On the album are out of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face two more cover songs: A Moment Like This ( produced by Steve Mac) and I Will Be (produced by Dr. Luke ). A Moment Like This is Lewis' debut single and her winning song on The X Factor and was covered by Kelly Clarkson, he has been their winning song at the talent show American Idol. The hit single was released on the Irish, British and Japanese edition of the album as a bonus track. I Will Be Avril Lavigne is a Neuinterpretion of track I Will Be and appeared on iTunes.com as a bonus track. Then it was released on the Limited Edition of Avril Lavigne's album The Best Damn Thing. I Will Be was the sixth single from Leona Lewis' album.

Promotion

On September 24, 2007 Lewis appeared on a special " album launch party " which took place at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. She presented there the pieces Bleeding Love, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Homeless and Whatever It Takes from the album.

Two weeks later, she went on a two -day regional UK radio tour to promote the album Spirit, and the second single release Bleeding Love. On October 15, followed by an appearance on the British TV series This Morning, where she also presented some of their songs. Leona Lewis sang in an episode of the fourth season of the talent show The X -Factor and resigned in March in the U.S. show The Oprah Winfrey show with her title on Bleeding Love.

The end of October Spirit was crowned in the BBC Radio album of the week. In February and March, she was promoting her album in Europe and completed by the end of March to early April in America a great promotional tour. This took place among others in TV shows such as The Tonight Show, Ellen, Jimmy Kimmel Live and TRL. They also appeared on American Idol. Your American promotional tour was followed by another in Australia.

On a website you record boss Sonny Takhar was announced that Leona Lewis would no longer up to the end of 2008 on tour, because it concentrates on the studio recording their next album. For 2010, it plans a 24 -day world tour.

Criticism

The response to the album Spirit were generally positive. IGA described the album as "a perfect specimen ." MSN Entertainment writes that it is a very impressive debut album and that it was worth the wait for its release. The British newspapers The Guardian and The Times commented on the album, however, less delighted. Both gave Spirit only 2 out of 5 stars. The Guardian gave the disappointed comment: "Lewis has certainly every bit of energy invested in their songs [ ... ] to but can also smash it, is one thing, if there is a personality there, then it is well hidden ." The Times wrote: "If Lewis by the greatest love - the adoration of the audience - is looking, they will need to know more about. " Magazine Daily Star, however, showed a positive surprise of the album and added a review: " The Fans. wont be disappointed by her sweet vocals and their power ballads " the Evening Standard rated the album also positive: " It was a very successful album with the necessary bite ". The website popjustice.com sees the tracks from the album, with some exceptions to be acceptable.

Spirit in the United Kingdom as the will be awarded to the fastest- selling debut album since there awards. It sold better than the Greatest Hits album of the Spice Girls. The sales reached 286,000 copies and the album stayed seven weeks at No. 1 on the British charts. It is the most successful British album of the year 2007 and the fastest million seller a solo artist with just 29 days. On 16th October 2007 Spirit was fourteen times certified by the British Phonographic Industry with platinum and reached again in 2008 maximum positions in the charts.

In the Irish charts, the album also reached # 1 and was also there the fastest-selling debut album. Spirit repressed album of the Arctic Monkeys from the top of the charts and remained at No. 1, two weeks before it was replaced by Shayne Ward Breathless album chart at the top. It reached 7x platinum.

November 24, 2008 Spirit came back to No. 1 on the UK Top 100 Worldwide the album sold an estimated 6.8 million times.

Could be run on 8 October 2010 again place in the German charts and indeed in ninth place in the 31 Appreciation Week. This is the highest position of the song in Germany so far.

Title list

The German edition additionally, the titles A Moment Like This contained (# 14), Forgive Me (# 15), Misses Glass ( # 16) and Run ( # 17), a cover version of Snow Patrol; In North America were additional titles Forgive Me and Misses Glass.

Information: The deluxe edition of Spirit was released on 17 November in the UK. The deluxe edition reached there first place

Also on the album, a second CD with the music video of Bleeding Love, are included in both the UK and in the U.S. version, Better In Time, Footprints In The Sand, Forgive Me and A Moment Like This. The music video to run is not included. On the iTunes.com version of the deluxe edition but the video of Run is included.
