Splash suit

The contamination suit is used by fire and civil protection units in operations with radioactive material as well as in nuclear power plants and factories with spotlights. It consists of easy to decontaminate, permanently antistatic, fire retardant, water-and oil-repellent fibers (eg, aramid fiber ).

The additional personal protective equipment for contamination protection suit is made of rubber boots, acid gloves, air-independent breathing protection and one each alarm and a film badge. The suit is designed to prevent settling dust and liquid radioactive particles on the body surface of the insert person or incorporated, that is inhaled or swallowed. This provides limited protection against alpha and beta radiation, because these radiations are particularly dangerous when the radiation source is located inside the body because of their relatively short range. Against the highly penetrating gamma radiation of the suit, however, is practically useless. Therefore be observed in a radiation protection use with the protective clothing accurate determinations.
