Split Enz

Split Enz was a successful band from New Zealand to the brothers Tim Finn and Neil Finn. Musically versatile includes her style art rock, vaudeville, swing, punk, rock, new wave and pop.

The band was founded in 1971 by Tim Finn and Phil Judd at Auckland's University; except them were Mike Chunn, Robert Gillies, Miles Golding and Noel Crombie in the band. At the time of their first singles under the name Split Ends known, they changed these before their first small tour of Australia in Split Enz, to emphasize their cultural background ( "NZ " is the common abbreviation for " New Zealand" ). Caused a stir the troops initially by their eccentric stage and costume designs, was responsible for the Crombie.

The career of the band can be divided into two phases divide: between 1972 and about 1978, the influences of progressive rock are most noticeable, the band with elements of folk, vaudeville and swing mixed. In 1977, Judd left the band, Tim Finn led the style in the direction of punk rock; when his younger brother Neil came in second guitarist to the band, the style changed in the direction of New Wave with pop influences. This style swivel led to commercially successful phase of the band.

Since the split end of 1984, the band has reunited several times, in order to give concerts, though its members musically spoke out in other formations - as Crowded House, Fast window, Citizen band and as Finn Brothers.
