Sporophyll

A sporophyll is a leaf, standing at the sporangia in which spores are formed. Sporophylls occur in the ferns and seed plants.

In the ferns the sporophyll has often one of the sterile leaves ( Trophophyll ) different construction on.

In heterosexual spore plants which form micro - and megaspores, ( male ) Mikrosporophylle and ( female ) Megasporophylle will vary accordingly. In the angiosperms the stamens as Mikrosporophylle, the carpels are interpreted as Megasporophylle. However, the nature of the dust sheet and carpels is not without controversy, which is why they are also called sporangium ( sporangiophore ).
