Sporting Kansas City is an American football franchise of the Major League Soccer ( MLS) from Kansas City, Kansas. The franchise was founded in 1995 and participated in the inaugural season in 1996 on the game mode. The team colors are blue and white.

History

The first years (1996 to 1999)

The club was founded in 1995 under the name Kansas City Wiz. First owner was the entrepreneur Lamar Hunt. Because of a dispute over the copyright of the name was changed after the first season in Wizards. The name refers to the Wizard of Oz

The first game was played on April 13, 1996 against the Colorado Rapids. It ended 3-0 to the Wizards through the gates of Vitalis Takawira and Frank Klopas.
