Sports sedan

Sports sedan is some unspecified and not protected name for cars with powerful engines that enable performance at the level of a sports car, but have the body and proportions of a sedan.

The term is found both in everyday language and in press articles and refers to different cars, all the way to the subjective assessment of the respective editor.

Some sport sedans are also available in a wagon variant and then gladly marketed as a sport wagon.

General

Some manufacturers also offer sports car sedans with high performance which are technically based on sports car models. However, these are not a sports car in the true sense but usually more sports sedans or sporty luxury sedans. The first car of this type was the Maserati Quattroporte from the year 1963, with 230 km / h then the fastest sedan in the world and now in its fifth generation in the program. Which manufacturer first used the term "sport sedan," is not known.
