The Spotland Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in the English town of Rochdale, Greater Manchester Metropolitan County. Main users of the stadium is the football club Rochdale AFC and Rochdale Hornets Rugby Club.

History

The sports facility was built in 1920 for Rochdale AFC. At that time they only had a grandstand. Since 1988 it has been owned by the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale; Rochdale Hornets and Rochdale AFC. From the early 1990s until the 2000/01 season the entire stadium was retreaded in accordance with the Taylor Report. In summer 2006, the pitch got a new drainage system; after it has come before game cancellations and postponements in the winter. Today, the plant has a capacity of 10,249 seats.

Grandstands

  • The Co-Operative tribune ( grandstand ) offers 1,774 fans a seat. There are on their 12 VIP boxes. People with disabilities and their assistants about 72 spaces are available. Visually impaired visitors to the services of a commentator on headphones is offered. The press box has 30 places for journalists.
  • The West Rose Leisure Tribune ( opposite stand ) with 3,644 seats, is the last reconstructed viewers rank; which was completed in the 2000 /01 season. Here guests fans find their place.
  • The TDS stands ( stand behind ) with 2,584 seats, is the rank of the spectators home fans and was officially inaugurated by the former footballer Nat Lofthouse in September 1997.
  • The Thwaites Beer Tribune ( stand behind ) is the only general admission rank of the stadium. It offers 1,898 standing places.
