Black Point boxfish ( lactophrys bicaudalis )

The black dot boxfish ( lactophrys bicaudalis ) lives in the Gulf of Mexico, the Caribbean and the tropical western Atlantic from the Bahamas and Florida to the northern coast of Brazil, as well as Ascension. He is a shallow-water dwellers, preferred depths 5-20 meters " and goes up to 50 meters deep. The fish are loners and keep in their habitat in rocky and coral reefs, often in cave entrances and under overhangs on. Characteristic of the style are two spikes just before the anal fin. Black Point box fish feed on various hard -shelled invertebrates such as clams, snails, crustaceans, starfish, brittle stars, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, sea squirts, algae and seaweed.
