Springback binder

A clamp binder is a device for rapid and repeated binding loose-leaf collections of books.

The clamp binder resembles a hardcover binding with a spine and two covers. In the spine, however, is included, whose job it is to later hold the book block, a steel spring. If the book cover by more than about 270 ° apart pressed, opens the spring, and the book block can be inserted, removed, supplemented by individual leaves or reduced to single sheets. The process takes only a few seconds, and finished the book resembles a bound book with a hard cover. Typical sizes are A4 and A5, the maximum height is usually 2 cm.

In contrast to other binding methods can reuse the cover by removing the old book block and replaced by a new one. In this way, the clamp binder forever new content can be used. Furthermore, no binding machines are needed. Since the book block neither glued nor stapled must still be sewn, it can refer to and use as a template for additional copies at any time.

In the GDR was a clamp binder in A5 format for typical equipment of a first grade. This was filled in the course of the school year with exercise notes, which were gradually distributed.
