Kansas City Brigade ( AFL) (since 2008)

The Sprint Center is a multi-purpose arena in the U.S. city of Kansas City, Missouri. It is named after the mobile operator Sprint, whose headquarters is, Kansas is located in Overland Park.

Was opened the Sprint Center on 10 October 2007 and a concert by Elton John on 13 October 2007 was the first event in the arena. The arena has 18,500 seats and 75 boxes and has virtually the Kemper Arena, which was built in 1974 replaced. Additionally, the College Basketball Experience, which the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame includes, north connected to the arena.

In 2008, the Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament was held at the Sprint Center, also both the first two rounds of the NCAA Men 's Tournament in 2009 and the regional selections of the NCAA Women 's Tournament 2010 will be held here.

Kansas City will also hold discussions with the NHL and NBA in terms of a possible expansion or relocation of a professional hockey or basketball franchise for the arena.

Details

Construction began on 24 June 2005 and were completed on 11 October 2007. The final draft, the Downtown Arena Design Team (a collaboration of the architectural firm Populous ( HOK later Sports), 360 Architecture, Ellerbe Becket Architects and Rafael ), was selected in August 2005. The responsible for the entire project construction manager was the Minneapolis-based MA Mortenson Company. The complete exterior glass facade, all metal panels for the adjacent buildings and any additional metal panels were designed specifically for the Sprint Center of Overgaard Ltd.. , Hong Kong. produced. A total of approximately 13,000 m² double glazing and 5,000 square lacquered aluminum wall panels were installed. All 2,404 glass units of the main building were made sequentially and fully assembled before transport.

Arena Football League

At the start of the 2008 season, the Arena Football Team Kansas City Brigade announced their move into the Sprint Center. In arena football find 17,297 spectators in the arena.

Possible Major League Teams

Since the completion of the arena, there are always rumors about NHL and NBA teams are to move to Kansas, among others the Los Angeles Clippers, which is now drawn to Oklahoma City Seattle SuperSonics, the Nashville Predators and the New York Islanders.
