Spurius Carvilius (171 BC)

Spurius Carvilius was one in the first half of the 2nd century BC, surviving member of the Roman plebeian family of the Carvilier.

Ahead of the imminent war between Rome and the Macedonian king Perseus was Carvilius BC by Gnaeus Sicinius commissioned early 171 to travel from Greece to Italy, to inform the Senate about the situation. It was then that Perseus had sent an embassy to Rome. As their representatives to the Senate gave inadequate answers to the charges against the Macedonians King accusations, they had to leave Italy within eleven days. Carvilius had to escort the envoys to their ships. Otherwise, nothing about him survived.
