Sputnik Engineering manufactures and sells string and central inverters for every solar system size: from small rooftop systems to megawatt solar power plants. For small installations string inverters of the SolarMax S- and P- series are (rated power: 2 to 5 kW) offered; for medium-sized systems, the SolarMax MT series (8 to 15 kW). Among the products in the field of central inverter counts the SolarMax S series (20 to 35 kW ), the SolarMax TS series ( 50 to 300 kW), the SolarMax TS- SV series (330 kW ) and power station ( 330 kW to 1.32 MW). Sputnik Engineering is also developing accessories and data communication solutions for monitoring, planning and control of photovoltaic systems.

History

Sputnik Engineering AG was founded in 1991 as a spin- off company of the former School of Engineering Biel, Switzerland and introduced the world's first three-phase central inverter with full digital control and regulation to the market. The technical innovations implemented in 1994 continued with the development of the world's first transformerless inverter. With the 2001 establishment of the subsidiary Sputnik Engineering GmbH in Germany Sputnik responded to the significantly growing demand for photovoltaic inverters. 2006, the subsidiary was founded in Spain in 2007 was followed by Italy, France in 2008 and 2011, China. Locations in the UK, Greece and Bulgaria were added successively.
