SpVgg Plattling

The Spielvereinigung Plattling is a football club based in the Lower Bavarian town of Plattling.

History

The club was founded in 1919 played in the 1970s and 1980s in the Football League against teams like Bayern TSV 1860 Munich, SpVgg Fürth and SSV Jahn Regensburg. In the DFB Cup main round Plattling met in the 1980s and 1990s, among other things, on clubs like Borussia Mönchengladbach, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, 1 FSV Mainz 05 and Fortuna Dusseldorf.

The mid-1990s increased the club - now heavily in debt - within three seasons down three times. The sponsors got out and the bankruptcy was averted only by means of the sale of the sports facility. By joining forces, and the support of foreign players in the game operating in the district league was maintained. Since then Plattling played long in the Bavarian district league until after 2002 succeeded only in 2011, the second resurgence in the Bezirksoberliga Lower Bavaria. In the season 2011/12 SpVgg Plattling tried and failed to march through - so the club for 17 years, played for the first time in the national league Bavaria, but is relegated again after just one season.

The club currently consists of two men's teams and 10 youth teams. The first team plays in the district of Lower Bavaria League East, the second in the Deggendorf A-Class.
