SpVgg SV Weiden

The SpVgg Weiden was a sports club from the Upper Palatinate pastures. He was born on 19 January 1924, had to be canceled due to bankruptcy in 2010. Succession is the club SpVgg Weiden SV.

History

The SpVgg Weiden arose under that name on 19 January 1924 as had split off as part of the " clean separation " of gymnastics and sports clubs, the football section was founded in 1912 by the Gymnastics Federation pastures and founded their own club.

The team was able to celebrate in the early years with the Langerringen the district championships in 1924 and 1931 first successes. In August 1929 we joined with FC Windisch Eschenbach and entered under the name of SpVgg Weiden - Windischeschenbach this connection, however, broke up in December 1933. In the years 1934 and 1941, the SpVgg Weiden rose after winning the district championship in the Gauliga Bavaria, on the then top division in German football. While the Weiden 1935 descended immediately from this, was held after the second ascent of the class. However, this was only possible by the division of the Bavarian Gauliga in a Gauliga northern and a southern Bavaria Gauliga. Weiden, which merged on January 9, 1939 with the State Railway Sports Association for the Reichsbahn SSVg pastures, played from the 1942/43 season in the Gauliga northern Bavaria. In the first season they closed after victories from, inter alia, on the SpVgg Fürth in fourth place behind the Fürth, 1 FC Schweinfurt 05 and 1.FC Nuremberg. The following season, 1943/44, the SpVgg occupied only the penultimate place in ninth. Had renewed the war-related division of the leagues to season 1944/45, the division into the Gauliga Bayreuth -Nord result, however, the operation of gambling probably not recorded.

After the Second World War, the SpVgg Weiden newly established under the old name 1945 1964 rose to the Bavarian League. 1965 could qualify as a master of Bavaria League for the second-rate Regionalliga Süd, from which one had to go back, however, after only one year. Following the club played mainly in the Bavarian League. The descents in the national league followed regularly after a short time to return to the Bavarian League. Only from 1975 to 1985 had to say goodbye for a long time.

After a highly successful Bavaria League season 2008/ 09, the Weiden already secured three rounds remaining the championship and thus the associated rise in the fourth-rate Regionalliga Süd. On 10 October 2008, the SpVgg Weiden denied her 1000th Bayern league game. A visit to the local waterworks stadium was SpVgg Bayreuth. The game ended before 2000 spectators 1:1. At the time the game was the SpVgg Weiden leaders and SpVgg Bayreuth table second in the Bavarian League.

On 26 May 2009, the Weiden sat in the domestic waterworks Stadium in the Bavarian Toto Cup semi-finals after a 0-3 residue with 7:6 n E. ( 3:3 after 90 minutes) against SpVgg Unterhaching by and thereby created a place in the first round of the DFB - Cup 2009/10, where they met with Borussia Dortmund and documents with 1:3. The Bavarian Toto Cup 2009 won the match of association with a 1-0 final win over third division Wacker Burghausen.

In early November 2010, the Association game, after defaulting payments of the main sponsor, for the opening of insolvency proceedings. To December 1, 2010, the club hired the operation of gambling and was thus established as the first relegated from the Regionalliga Süd.
