Sri Lankan National Badminton Championships

Badminton Championships of Sri Lanka will be held since 1953. They are thus one of the oldest national championships in Asia. 2012, the 60th edition of the tournament has already taken place. Record title winner in the women 's Chandrika de Silva, 2003 for the seventh time in a row won the women's singles competition and thus unlocked the previous record holder Chandrika Mallawaratchi. With the championship in December 2010 en Silva won a total of 34 national titles, including 11 in women's singles, 11 in women's doubles and 12 in mixed doubles. For men Niluka Karunaratne is record holder, which in December 2009 could win his ninth title in a row.

Already since 1946 team championships are held.
