SRID

The acronym stands SRID ( literally " reference identification number for spatial coordinate systems " ) for the English term Spatial Reference Identifier. These identifiers are used to identify spatial coordinate system definitions clearly, no matter whether it is to projected, or local coordinate systems is unprojizierte.

Almost all geographic information system vendors either maintain their own SRID implementations or relating to the implementation of organizations, for example, the EPSG codes of the European Petroleum Survey Group Geodesy (EPSG ) and the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers ( OGP ).

The definition of SRIDs is managed by the Open Geospatial Consortium ( OGC), a non-governmental voluntary organization. SRIDs be for example in geographical information systems (GIS ) used to describe the underlying GIS coordinate system.
