The Britannic was a steamship of the White Star Line.
Ship life
The ship was designated as the Hellenic in the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Kiel. Your launch took place on 3 February 1874.
As Britannic she completed her maiden voyage from Liverpool via Queenstown to New York on 25 June 1874. In November 1876 she was awarded the Blue Riband with a speed of 15.43 knots.
In 1899 she served as a transporter in the Boer War.
In 1903 she was scrapped in Hamburg.
A few years later forgave the White Star Line Britannic the name again - The following Britannic was launched in 1914 and was the third and final ship of the Olympic - class and thus sister ship of the Titanic.
