St David's Church, Llangeview

St David 's Church is no longer occupied for worship church building within a round churchyard at the junction of A449 and A472 about 1.5 km east of the town of Usk in Monmouthshire, Wales. The church was set by the Welsh Authority Cadw on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest and is maintained by the Friends of Friendless Churches. Cadw has classified the building because of his " extraordinary interiors " including the rood screen with loft from the 15th century and the " rare pre- Victorian Kastengestuhls and equipment " in the Grade I.

History

The church dates largely from the 15th century and was probably originally dedicated to Saint Cyfyw. In 1999 she was declared redundant. Architecture

St David's is built of rubble stone and has a roof of stone bricks. The floor plan consists of a nave with the chancel, to the west is the entrance. On the eastern gable sits a finial, on the western gable is the belfry. This has two triangular openings. The bells date from 1598 and 1688, but in 1999 was only one of the two bells available. On the south side have three windows in the Perpendicular style light into the interior of the church; on the north side there are no windows. The east facing window has three openings. At the eastern end of the nave there is a buttress and on the south side of the chancel granted a Tudor arch intake.
