St Peter Mancroft

St Peter Mancroft is a parish of the Anglican Church of England, close to the Market Square in the center of the East Anglian town of Norwich. Built as a city church of merchants and guilds 1430-1455 at the ripe Perpendicular plant is the largest parish church of the city and part of the Greater Churches Group.

Plant

The three-nave church with richly decorated with blind arcades west tower was built on the site of an earlier church from the year 1075, the little helmet was added in 1896. The eastern end is a window whose glass is a kind Biblia pauperum with scenes from the New Testament.

Equipment

The organ was built in 1912 by organ builder Colin. The instrument has 38 registers on three manuals and pedal. The play and Registertrakturen are pneumatic.

Digger

In the choir there is a plaque commemorating Sir Thomas Browne (1605-1682), who lived since 1637 in close proximity and is buried here.

Peal

The peal of 14 bells, 12 of them from 1775, has played a significant role in the history of change ringing.
