St. Benedict's Church (Munich)
St. Benedict is a Munich parish church in the Schrenkstraße in Schwanthalerhoehe ( " West " ) district and is the holy and consecrated monk Benedict of Nursia. It belongs with the Churches of the Visitation in Ridlerstraße and St. Rupert at Kiliansplatz the Pfarrverband Munich - Westend.
Location
The Catholic parish church located west of the center of Munich, just a short walk from the Theresienwiese ( site of the Oktoberfest, among others ) and the Augustinerbrau removed between hackers and Donnersbergerbrücke.
History
In 1873 was sent to the " Catholic citizens of Munich " a very successful appeal for funds for the construction of another church in the parish of St. Boniface. Three years later, the building site required to be purchased in the Schrenkstraße. The consecration took place on 23 October 1881. The church building was heavily damaged in World War II, in October 1944, of bombs.
After reconstruction in 1950 the service operation could be resumed. Here also foreign-language services are held. Next to this church you will also find a daycare and the Kaspar- Stangassinger House, where many foreign-language missions are located.
Organ
The organ was built by Carl Schuster. She has 25 stops on two manuals and pedal.
Bells
The winning pointed steeple houses a four-part bronze bells with Schlagtonfolge d1- f k1 -a1 -c2.
