The St. Clair County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2010, the County had 270 056 inhabitants and a population density of 157 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Belleville.
The St. Clair County is located in the Metro - East called the eastern part of the metropolitan area of Greater St. Louis the city of St. Louis in neighboring Missouri.
Geography

History
The St. Clair County, on April 27 1790 as the first county in the former Illinois - formed territory and comprised about a quarter of the subsequent State of Illinois. It was named after Arthur St. Clair (1736-1818), President of the Continental Congress (1787-1787), General of the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War (1775-1783) and Governor of the Northwest Territory ( 1788-1802 ).
