St. Francis County, Arkansas

The St. Francis County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. In 2010, the County had 18,258 inhabitants and a population density of 11.1 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Forrest City.

Geography

The County is located in Eastern Arkansas and is in the east about 15 km from the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Mississippi, away. It has an area of 1664 square kilometers, of which 22 square kilometers are water surface. In a north-south direction the County is drained by the St. Francis River. History

The St. Francis County was formed on October 13, 1827 from portions of Phillips County. It was named after the St. Francis River, which flows through the county.
