St. Johns ( Navajo: Tsézhin Deez'áhí ) is a town in Apache County in the U.S. state of Arizona. It is the administrative center and the seat of the governor of Apache County.

Geography

A city located 18 miles west of the border with New Mexico. St. John's is located at Arizona State Route 61 and U.S. Highways 180 and 191

The capital of Arizona is Phoenix four -hour drive and the city Flagstaff 2.5-hour drive away.

The city's airport, the St. Johns Airpark, has two runways, the longer a length of 5730 feet has.

History

The town was founded as a Spanish settlement called El Vadito, 1873, it was renamed San Juan. Since 1880, it bears the English name St. Jones.

Attractions, events

In the city, the Apache County Historical Museum, which has many artifacts from the 19th century by the colonization of the region. Furthermore, there are in the city with the Isaacson Building, Lower Zuni River Archeological District, the Lyman Lake Rock Art Site and the Rattlesnake Point Pueblo total of four National Register of Historic Places.

On the grounds of the airport in late August / early September is performed as Indy Car Race Grand Prix of St. Jones.
