St. Paul's Cathedral, Kolkata

The St. Paul 's Cathedral is an Anglican church in the Church of North India in Kolkata.

The foundation stone was laid 1839. Was finished St Paul's Cathedral in 1847. Architect of the cathedral were William Nairn Forbes and CK Robinson. The building was built in the Gothic Revival style.

The iron roof carrier with dimensions of 75 by 24 meter was then the world's longest of its kind for better ventilation, the pointed arch windows extend to page footer level and on the ceilings hang large fans.

Among many well-preserved memorabilia and commemorative plaques to representatives of the late Empire the stained glass window stands out by Sir Edward Burne -Jones (1833-1898) in 1880 in honor of the British Governor General Lord Mayo ( 1822-1872 ) designed. The original spire was destroyed by an earthquake in 1897, after another earthquake in 1934, it was is trying to match the Bell Harry Tower of Canterbury Cathedral.
