St.-Quirin-Platz

Metro Station St. - Quirin-Platz is an architecturally unique station of the Munich U -Bahn.

A glass dome spans the middle of the station. To build the dome was not easy, since they are both produced inexpensively, and should satisfy the aesthetic demands of the Baureferates. In the dome is located on the ground floor, the main hall, leading from the drive and fixed stairs and lifts to platform level. The station was opened on 8 November 1997, the enlargement of the line U1. Since near is an institution for disabled, the station was equipped with the only two immediately adjacent lifts. The rear track walls are made of rough untreated and untreated piles. There you can also see reddish discoloration. The ceiling above the platform is equipped with reflective aluminum panels to allow a spacious effect.

The design of the shell and the glass roof was from Paul Kramer and Manfred Rossiwal - Jespersen (subway ) unit and the glass roof of Ulrich Elsner. The interior work was conceived by Hermann Öttl, Munich.

The first design stage, saw the station did not before, but as a station distance of 1.4 kilometers was too long, they decided to build a railway station very close to the middle ring.
