St. Xavier High School (Cincinnati)

St. Xavier High School (abbreviated St. X, latin Academia Sancti Xaverii Cincinnatensis ) is a boys' high school with a Roman Catholic - Jesuit sponsorship in Finneytown, a CDP settlement near Cincinnati, Ohio. St. Xavier was the school of Francis Xavier College ( later Xavier University ), founded in 1831 as the Athenaeum. It is the oldest high school in Cincinnati and one of the oldest high schools in the country, making it older than many universities. St. Xavier is one of four Catholic boys' high school in Cincinnati. It is the largest private school in Ohio, with over 1,500 students in 2006.
