The State Landschulheim Marquartstein is a scientific- technological and linguistic grammar school with boarding facilities in Marquartstein in Chiemgau.

Hermann Harless founded the boarding 1928. Between 1928 and 1958, the school and the boarding school were housed in the castle Marquartstein. After moving in 1958 the New Castle Marquartstein train was expanded to train to a high school with 850 students today.

History

Hermann Harless, a student of Hermann Lietz founder of the German Landerziehungsheime for boys, had worked until 1920 under the reform pedagogues Paul Geheeb at the Odenwald School. From then on, he was at the New German school next to Alexander Sutherland Neill was established in 1921 " International School " operates. The school was originally a reform school, which was founded in 1910 by Emile Jaques- Dalcroze in Hellerau. After the dissolution of the New German School in 1923 Hermann Harless was founded in 1928 at the castle Marquartstein with 16 students, the school camp Marquartstein. Due to sharp increase in student numbers in 1940 Harless could hold at the private high school final exams. Hermann Harless remained until nationalization on May 1, 1943 Director of Landschulheim.
