Stabilimento Tecnico Triestino

The Stabilimento Tecnico Trientino ( STT) was born 1857/1858 in Muggia near Trieste from the Maschinenfabrik Strudhoff in Sant ' Andrea and the shipyard San Rocco. It was one of the largest shipyards in Austria -Hungary, which was prepared in two batches ships with a displacement of up to 20,500 tons.

History

1897 bought the S.T.T. the large yard of Giuseppe Tonello it. The acquisition of the majority shareholding in S.T.T. by major banks and technicians enabled the construction of ships up to 20,500 tons. 1909 you bought the shipyard in Linz and 1911 those in Galatz, with which the company got in in the river shipbuilding. 1910 separated the shipyard San Rocco, from the business community and has been at equal participation with the Austrian Lloyd the now independent shipyard San Rocco AG, in the future only merchant ships were built.

Between 1916 and 1918, was named the S.T.T. briefly Austria shipyard.

Ships

At the shipyards on the S.T.T. among other things, the battleships SMS Prinz Eugen, SMS Tegetthoff and SMS Viribus Unitis, and the Habsburg- class for the Imperial and Royal Navy were built. - It also emerged passenger ships such as the Conte Grande ( 1928).
