The Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia is a football stadium in the Lombard city of Como, Italy. It is the home of the football club Calcio Como, and was named after the Italian rower Giuseppe Sinigaglia (1884-1916), who was wounded in the First World War and died.

History

The stadium opened in 1927 is owned by the city and is situated directly on Lake Como. The sports facility that once was equipped with a velodrome. From 1960 to 1974, the area was the destination of the cycling classic Tour of Lombardy. Today, the stadium has 13,602 seats, of which approximately 20 % are covered. The sports complex consists of the covered grandstand, a roofless opposite stand, the East Stand for the visiting fans and the two- steel bleachers audience rank in the West, both of which are under the open sky.

In 1990, the old main stand was demolished and replaced by a new building. Two tubular steel stands were built with name Curva Como Azzurra Instead of Curva in the summer of 2002, which the spectator capacity increased to 3500-5000 spectators. In the season 2002/ 03 Como played in Serie A. With additional bleachers, the stadium summed this season up to 18,000 spectators. As a final 2003/ 04 of the old guest rank in the East has been replaced by a new concrete construction.

The stadium was chosen as the venue for the semi-finals, the 3rd place match and the final of the NextGen Series 2012/13 (A- juniors).

In addition to football and concerts are held in the stadium; as was, for example, on 13 July 2004, the British rock band Deep Purple in Como guest.
